QMA World Formula
Ziggy's World Formula: Latest version with aluminum flywheel $1825 with 2 week delivery
The Basics-
Did you know Briggs makes more racing engines than any other company in the world? The Briggs World Formula engine was developed as an affordable power plant for international Karting competition. The engine is a slant, 30-degree overhead valve design with 200cc displacement. It is purpose built for racing and features:
- Bore: 2.6875/2.6885 in.
- Stroke: 2.2 in.
- Compression Ratio: 9.7 to 1
- Dura-Bore® Cast Iron Cylinder Sleeve
- High-lift racing cam w/dual valve springs
- Racing combustion chamber w/matched dome
- Induction hardened crankpin
QMA-
After running World Formula as an exhibition class in 2005, the QMA adopted the World Formula as an official racing class for the 2006 season. This engine provides an affordable avenue to high horsepower racing. With power roughly equivalent to a B-modified, more experienced drivers now have a more affordable class to advance to. To master World Formula requires a high skill level and good throttle control to master. This class is proving popular with drivers and handlers as some clubs already have more than 10 cars competing on a weekly basis.
Ziggy's-
A World Formula engine direct from Briggs is configured for Karting and must be modified to make it legal for Quarter Midget racing. Ziggy removes the: electric starter, pull start, centrifugal clutch and electronics assembly. The QMA required rev limiter is relocated out of harms way to the top of the engine out of harms way. An appropriate air filter and throttle cable are fitted. A breather fitting is installed on the valve cover to meet the QMA catch can rule. The crankshaft has a heavy-duty spline fitted and welded into place. Then a custom 5.7:1 gearbox is fitted.
Fast-
The gearbox is an exclusive Ziggy's Motorworks design. Instead of the more common 6:1 gearbox with a heavy brittle cast iron sun gear, the Ziggy's design uses a strong light steel sun gear. The Ziggy's gearbox is machined from billet aluminum for strength and precision. The lightweight ball bearing design reduces power-robbing friction. The gearbox bolts to the engine without a paper gasket for strength and proper alignment, reducing friction.
All Ziggy prepared World Formula engines are given initial adjustment and run-in. After run-in the engine is dyno tuned to verify they meet the Ziggy performance standards. You receive a dyno sheet for your engine.

Reliable-
The Ziggy's World Formula will be the most reliable at the track. The custom designed and built Ziggy's gearbox is equipped with a Woodruff keyway for the engine gear. A Woodruff keyway is not prone to distortion like the plain keyway on a typical 6:1 gearbox. High strength Deco style gears can be used. Engine gears won't get jammed on the shaft facilitating gear changes at the track. The Ziggy's gearbox has exclusive drain and fill ports making gearbox oil changes fast and easy.
Tip: Use the Ziggy's Stock gear chart for the World Formula.
Legal-
Of course the Ziggy's World Formula engines will be legal. All the critical power-producing dimensions are checked during the conversion process to assure compliance to QMA specifications. Ziggy's Motorworks has earned, over more than 10 years, a sterling reputation for Legal QMA Honda and Deco engines. Ziggy's maintains an ongoing dialog with both the QMA and the engine manufacturers to stay abreast of any changes or trends. Ziggy's will continue this dialog as the the newest QMA class, World Formula evolves.
